The Adani Coal mine in Queensland has suffered another setback when the newly reinstated QLD Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk vetoed the $1 Billion federal loan for construction of a rail line connecting the Carmichael coal mine to the Abbot Point coal terminal.
This is another setback in a a long line of problems that have hindered the project since Adani first began the approval process back in November 2010.
Adani have responded to the premier by posting a statement on their Facebook page reiterating their commitment to the project.
Under the constitution, the federal government funding must be facilitated by the state government to the private company and in this case through NAIF.
At this point in time it is unclear as to the future of other projects funded through NAIF, such as Aurizon’s plans to build a rail line in the Galilee Basin.
